2-Strip and 3-Strip Technicolor Math: An Overview
2-Strip and 3-Strip Technicolor were early color motion picture processes developed in the 1920s and 1930s. The 2-Strip process used two strips of black-and-white film, one for the red and green components of the image and one for the blue component. The 3-Strip process used three strips of black-and-white film, one for each of the three primary colors (red, green, and blue).2-Strip and 3-Strip Technicolor were both subtractive color processes, meaning that they created color by filtering out unwanted colors from white light. The red and green components of the image were printed on the same strip of film in the 2-Strip process, and the blue component was printed on a separate strip.
